Shoes as Art

Aren't these Vivienne Westwood shoes great? They were just put on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. That's exactly what I was thinking while looking at them from behind the glass...I want them...but I doubt I'd ever wear 'em...they look like they belong to some sexed up cartoon sweetie...don't they?...Plus, really...how many mere mortals could actually pull that Betty Boop/Betty Page look off successfully AND actually walk 2 feet in them? I'd put them up on a shelf & just look at them if they were mine too.

Just Curious...

This thought popped into my brain this morning:

Do hookers get time off once a month?

Or do you think that they just work through it?

Grand Central Market

As many times as I've been in Grand Central Terminal I'd never been in the Market. Damn, I love this whole place, the building...with it's grand spaces & incredible arches gets to me every time.

It's really a lovely place (don't you love those Maryjanes...btw?)

The other day I spent awhile browsing through the Market..

All I wanted was cake for lunch.

Their breads made me drool too.

Maybe I should just stick to fresh fruit?

Actually, all I ended up buying was some fresh pasta but I'm still craving cake.

Geek

Geek - an individual who is fascinated by knowledge & imagination, usually electronic or virtual in nature. Or...in my view, someone who knows too much about a given subject.

See below for some of my geekiness.

So, what are you a geek about?

Color

I had color on the brain today...don't know why...but then again...why not?

It seems that every art class I ever took made me make a color wheel. Here's one I saved while taking an oil painting class. I never did get that hang of oils. It just takes too long for the paint to actually dry & that gives me more time to play around with the paint on the canvas & you know...generally make a big muddy mess of things.

The first color wheel has been traced back to Sir Isaac Newton. In 1706 he arranged red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo & violet into a natural progression on a rotating disk. As the disk spins, the colors blur together so rapidly that the human eye sees white (this is called additive color...your computer monitor uses this color model).

Ok...so you might not care about any of this geek speak...but you can find inspiration in pretty much anything at all.

Has this ever happened to you?

You wait about a century too long...

You rise from your chair...

...thinking about nothing but floods & waterfalls & fast running streams...

You begin walking to the bathroom...

...while trying to squeeze your legs together at the same time...

(which makes you almost fall & wouldn't that be a mess?)

Your shoes are clicking on the floor to the rhythm of ...please don't pee...please don't pee...running through your brain.

You barely make it to your safe haven in time & swear to your bladder that you'll never, ever do that again.

Goo

I love THIS little healthy juice bar slash tea spot.

I do.

What prompted me to stray from my usual chai tea with honey I will never know.

Even more curious...why did I somehow think that ordering an apple, celery, mixed greens & aloe drink would be a good idea?

I love the tea from this place...why couldn't I leave it at that?

The bright green drink I ended up with was only good if I pinched my nose with my fingers while I drank it...somehow not breathing made the green goo slide down my gullet faster or something.

It wasn't terrible...funny thing was...it tasted EXACTLY like you'd think such an odd combo of stuff would taste.

Go figure.

Don't Try This at Home

I've been having a klutzy couple of days lately...but I'll break it down into a few posts so as not to completely scare you away.

The other day I happily dragged my-fatter-than-last-year ass down to the gym.

I worked out on many frightening ass torture machines & was getting ready for a post work out victory shower when several things conspired against me:

1. I was running late (a staple in my world)...it's seriously like I do not know how to function if I'm actually beginning to run early.

2. I was physically exhausted & my legs were tired from holding up my over worked butt.

3. My gym bag has an extra long strap.

4. Being naked in public has a strange (although not altogether unpleasant) effect on my composure & well being.

I stood there, wrapped in a towel, my girlie shower things in my hands & took one step forward.

My back leg got tangled in my gym bag's straps & decided to stay anchored where it was...while my front leg happily continued on.

In response to all this...my body decided that rather than take sides...it would go neither forward or backward...but thrust itself straight down with a thud.

I was so glad that the locker room was completely empty.

If you had been there all you would have seen through your veil of hysterical tears was a blur of arms, legs, green towel, pasty white skin & pink nipples all headed for the carpet with a splat.

...P.S. I think I hurt my spleen.
