Art

Maira Kalman is an artist that I just discovered online (illustrator, designer, author...all things I lump under the term ARTIST).

She posts on this lovely NYTimes site.

...& I think the real star of the day

was Sasha Obama

who totally stole the show

in her pink coat & orange scarf.

What's Making You Smile Today?

OK...they don't quite look like this on me...

but they still make me happy when I look down & see them.

They come up a lot closer to my belly button.

Good thing too.

because if they didn't...

I'd sort of feel like they needed to be constantly pulled up a bit all damn day.

The sales woman at the Body Gap called them girl shorts.

Anyone else out there ever try this style before?

They are comfy & are sort of forgiving in the visible pantyline arena.

Seriously...when I got dressed this morning...

I thought...lesbian...

Yeah, I'm dressed like a lesbian.

(not that there's anything wrong with that).

It just wasn't the look I was aiming to achieve.

Oh well, maybe I'll get some action from a hot woman because of my vibe.

I found some more unique, kind of different items in my travels lately & I thought I'd share:

These are actual NYC subway tokens. Maybe I like them because they are a thing of the past...but aren't they lovely?

Who doesn't love the crunchy edges of brownies the best of all? This pan gives you more edges...ingenious!

I love the strong graphics here, can you see the hammerhead sharks in the wallpaper. This looks both masculine & feminine to see...& that's not an easy concept to achieve at all.

This candy necklace brings me back to childhood. I want to eat it.

Style

As I was shopping the other day I saw this oh-so-well-dressed man & was in awe.

Was this the way people used to dress to run to the market?

I was immediately smitten.

The cell phone pic. does not do him justice.

He had on a well fitted jacket, a sweater vest & a striped shirt that complimented his red tie.

Did you notice the hat? Dapper is the word I'd use. He even had a pocket square.

He was so cute that I tailed him around the store trying to wish him into being my kindly old grandfather.
