Happy Opening Day

(click it to read it)
My team got rained out.
So my opening day is really tomorrow.
As I watched Baseball Tonight on ESPN
I thought how odd it was that so many of the highlights of the day
involved spitting.
I just want to see some fine baseball being played.
But now in HD clarity...I have to see arcing spit blobs being spewn EVERYWHERE.
I do sort of like the rainbows that can be seen gleaming off the gross saliva
(ok, that was really disgusting)
But that's beside the point.
Why the constant need to spit?!

I Miss Manny Already

Am I upset that Theo traded Manny?
YES!
I may be the only Manny fan left on the East Coast...but I do not care.
Do I care that during last night's awful showing against the angels...
that Manny held up a sign saying...
"Trade me for Favre"
No!
I seriously hate that Scott Boras is ruining baseball.
I care that Manny will no longer smile while hitting another homer in a Redsox uniform.
I care that such a unique character will leave a hole in my beloved team.
I care that opposing teams will now pitch around Big Papi more than ever before.
I care that left field will never again be the same at Fenway.
I loved to watch Manny play.
He loves the game.
He loves it when he's hitting well.
He loved it just the same when he's not.
NL pitching...you are screwed.
It will be interesting though to see Torre try to manage Manny.

The Longest Run On Sentence Ever Ever Ever

As I was driving home last night in the pouring rain I became obsessed with trying to get my AM radio to work even though it hasn't ever worked since day one but hey you never know if you don't try so try I did because I desperately wanted to catch the 1st couple of innings of the Redsox game even though I checked the weather up there & it had been raining all day there too so maybe there would be no game at all & as I was speeding up the highway going 80 mph a car sidled up to me & the guy in the car gave me the universal sign for...slow down & my gut instinct was to give him the universal sign for eat me...but then I happened to notice that he was a cop & it dawned on me that my gut could have easily just gotten me in a heap of unwanted trouble right then & I just wasn't up for such a thing on a rainy night in June when my beloved Redsox were the game of the night on ESPN & I clearly wanted to get home to watch the hell out of them.

My dentist is a yankee fan

I only tell you that...because I have to go sit in his chair tomorrow morning & inevitably stare up at his thousands of framed posters of Derick Jeter & Wade Boggs & Darryl Strawberry & Paul O'Neill...he goes way back & yes...I am tormented by these faces while I'm being held captive in his chair. It's either look up the doc's nose or eyeball Joe Torre. Can I have another choice please, please, PLEASE?!
...& I DARE not tell him that I'm a Redsox fan...I almost let it slip last time I was there...then I thought better of it. I know how yankees fans can be & this man is skilled with drills & huge needles & PAIN. I just know that the second the words...Big Papi dribbled out of my mouth...he'd instantly run out of novocaine & the unmedicated torture would begin.
Although...I have to give him a smidge of credit for not having one single photo of A-hole up there (he's only got World Series yanks pics...so really why would he have A-hole up there?). Way to go, Doc (please don't hurt me).

Welcome To Soxtober

OK, I stole that line from another site...so what, I liked it.
His bio lists him at 5'9" & 180 lbs.
That is being extremely generous with the numbers if you ask me...but...whatever.
He still reminds me of the movie Rudy & here's a quote to tell you why:
"You're 5 foot nothin', 100 & nothin'...
...In this life, you don't have to prove nothin' to nobody but yourself. Am I making myself clear?"
(Yep, I always notice when the little guy does something special).
My Sox are going all the way!
Even if you have no use for baseball in your life...
(Do you even know what kind of passion you're missing?!)
...you have to be impressed by a guy like Dustin Pedroia (or Little P)
Finally, a player who plays scrappy baseball & has funny doing it.
Go Sox, GO!
