...a male & female point of view...We are two former coworkers who share similar ideas on what's absurd...or just plain funny...thought we could offer a unique view on life & stuff...

This guy had a photo of a child on his truck & is blatantly using it to make people feel guilty & pay him to test their homes for radon. I damned him then ran him off the road.

So, you want to know about Dick, huh?

He doesn't participate in this blog anymore (like you didn't know that already).

We met at a long ago job.

We were both starting out & sort of bonded over that.

He made me laugh during some long, overworked days.

After I left that job we drifted apart.

I heard that he married a coworker (long story).

We got back in touch when he landed at another job I was working.

He was in the process of leaving that marriage.

Since then he married & divorced again & now is with someone else.

I don't think she likes this blog (she had problems with some

of the LONG AGO writings of Dick). But who knows,

maybe she doesn't read this anymore, especially since he

hasn't contributed here FOR YEARS.

Anyway, that is the only reason I probably won't go into

more detail about Dick.

Suffice it to say that he's a true friend of mine & always will be.

We don't talk much at all lately...but that's ok.

He's pretty non judgmental about my life & I try to do the same for him.

Crap, this turned out boring.

I'll write up a Dick story & post it next, deal?

Buff

If there's such a thing as being too buff...um...this is it.

Apropos of nothing...I had déjà vu (did I get the accents right?) moment at the gym today.

I was on one of those stepper machines.

Not sure what they're really called.

You know, the ones where you pump your legs up & down

& also move your arms back & forward like you're cross country skiing.

It's not a ski machine...yeah, ok...I know...who cares.

I was slogging away with my iPod precariously perched in the little cup holder thing on the machine...

One wrong move of my flailing right arm & blammo the iPod goes flying across the room.

I got my hand tangled in the cord & nearly ripped my eardrum out in the process.

I got off the machine with a look of idiocy on my face.

Um...damn...where did it go? No iPod anywhere.

The guy in back of my on the treadmill motioned to my right & I still couldn't find it.

"No, your other right", he said (what? I was flustered & looking left).

There it was under the machine next to me...under, yeah, like I'd see that.

So, I thanked the eagle eyed guy & collected my things & got out of there.

Happy Friday.

Have a nice weekend.

I would wish you a group hug from the guys pictured above

But I'm afraid they might crush you.

(mine were just boring black...these are better)

If anyone out there knows of a brand of tights that do not fall down effectively giving you a webbed crotch in the process as you’re walking down the street, let me know.

I laughed so hard because that’s exactly what happened to me today & we can’t have tights falling down in public, now can we?…so I decided to hike up my dress because I ended up riding up in the elevator alone & I was just covering up what should remain private as the elevator doors opened to my floor & the security guy was none the wiser.

Oh yeah, & as I was paying for some kind of infused water at lunch time, I dropped my phone on the floor & the battery popped out. I picked it up only to discover that the back of the phone was missing.

Crap.

To my horror I had a feeling that it was now somewhere under the counter in filthland. Like I was going to stick my hand into that abominable darkness. I asked for a spoon & fished around for a bit & found it without trying to think too hard about what else could come crawling out from under there.

Cornered

As I was walking from my car in the parking garage this morning

out of the corner of my eye

I saw a maintenance man in the dark corner

He eyed me up & looked at me in a way that made my knees go weak in a bad way.

His eyeballs glowed in the darkness.

I could have sworn they glowed an evil red too.

Thankfully, I was on my cell with my favorite person

So I didn't panic as much as I might have had I been more alone.

Turns out the guy was only waiting for me to pass

Before he turned on his loud power tool to fix the pipe in the corner.

See why I don't watch horror movies ever, ever, ever???

I couldn't stand to be inside at work for one more second last Friday afternoon.

But, damn, it was 7 degrees outside without the wind chill.

I bundled up in ohsostylish long underwear under my jeans & sweater(s)

Topped myself off with a hat, coat, scarf & gloves & was off.

The cold air & wind knocked me over & hit me in the face when I finally made it outside.

It felt good for the first few seconds, then I was numb.

I walked down to the ferry terminal where I knew the plane would be.

I saw the comforting sight of the Coast Guard going up the river.

There were gatherers like me wanting to get a glimpse of the plane in the water.

This was as close as I was able to get.

Odd to see an airplane wing sticking up out of the Hudson River.

Beyond the ferry terminal you can see the crane that they eventually used to remove the plane from the river setting up.

This isn't a great representation of the media that was here...but they were starting broadcast for the nightly news.

All the rescuers involved, the fire dept, police, ferry operators, divers, Coast Guard & people riding on the ferries who helped pull passengers out of the river & gave them their coats deserve thanks.

...kinda put my sucky day into perspective.

So, I have this necklace.

It means a lot to me.

I got it the last time I was in Ireland in a little town in the west called Roundstone.

It’s a pendent with a Celtic design & an amethyst.

As I was riding up in the elevator in my parking garage the other day I was sort of twisting it around under my coat & scarf because the clasp had fallen to the front when it should be in the back (you know what I mean).

It wasn’t twisting smoothly because of all the layers that were on top of it.

So what did I do?

I kept pulling it until it bruised my neck & eventually broke (because I'm like that).

The chain slid off down my top & the pendant dropped to the floor somewhere.

I looked for it in a panic.

I crawled on the floor & eventually found it just as the elevator doors were opening onto my floor.

The pendent was just about to fall down the space between the door & the elevator shaft.

I grabbed it & started to cry.

Damn it, I wasn’t scheduled for a breakdown today.

I picked up this book the other day & couldn't put it down:

Everyday Matters

"If you want to be inspired to draw, or to write, or to live more fully, or best of all to do all three simultaneously, (and if you only have 60 minutes to move closer to your goals)- Everyday Matters is a must read."

I didn't write that...but who(m)ever did wasn't an asshole at all.

Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself in a store window

or glass door...

& not immediately realized it was you?

Just for a moment?

But in that moment

when you presumed you were looking at a stranger

but really looking at yourself

you thought...

who's that 12 year old girl with such a look of sadness on her face?

Holy shit...

That's you!

Fuck.

There's a line from a movie

for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it.

Anyway, the general scene was something about someone sleeping

& the other person shakes them awake & screams...

"WAKE UP, YOU'RE MISSING IT!"

Went to the gym today after a time away.

This is the little section of the gym for girlies only.

I like to use it when it's empty.

See that balance thing in the front there?

It's my nemesis...it hates me.

It especially despises me when I try to balance on it while doing squats & desperately trying to not fall on my face.

It also makes me look fat...damn thing.

Beautiful, saturated colors when I stopped at a traffic light.

More colors on the ride while not speeding.

Taken with my cell phone on the bumpy train.

This mom was on her way to take her kids to the Sports Museum of America..

They were very excited...couldn't sit in their seats for anything.

I haven't checked this place out yet.

It's a new museum that just opened this May.

"Our mission is to richly showcase the history, grandeur and significance of sports in American culture & to remind us all why sports has spawned a worldwide community of avid fans & admirers."

You can molest the Heisman Trophy here.

(not my photo...but you can clearly see this father-son team is hell bent on molesting old Heisman there).

Want to hear me bitch about the price of admission?

Um...16 bucks a pop?!

Fuck.

(Geez...go or don't go...just put a sox in the complaining already!

OK...damn...leave me alone.)

I'm done & maybe I'll go sometime when I have a chance & money to burn.

I searched high & low.

To find the perfect place for a little late lunch today.

It was grey & rainy today...so in I stayed inside.

I had a Birdseye view, didn't I?

Does your math brain love the symmetry here?

This blockhead was eating in my favorite Japanese restaurant.

If I swooped down & used my birdlike superpowers I'd have just snagged his lunch.

Only, I don't really eat fish & he was eating sushi.

So he was safe to eat in peace for another day.

Piss me off.

You couldn't today because I'm already there.

Maybe it's a good distraction from everything else going on in my life right now.

Damn state troopers pulled me over again.

I tried to get a photo...but he was hovering...so here's the best I could do.

I was doing 85 in a 65 MPH zone.

Come on...it's a straight away flat road & there was barely anyone on it.

What would you do?

Fuck, I'd still be there if I was going 65.

He gave me this written warning & took my get out of jail free card away.

Hey, that's mine...what the hell?!

At least I have to pay nothing this time...but going the speed limit might just kill me.

Well, did ya?

VOTE, that is.

Here's where I voted.

At the senior center.

My neighbor, Alice got me all signed in.

She's a spry one at about 85 years young.

She's one of those...take no crap...ladies & I aspire to be her when I'm 103.

This is me actually hitting the button.

I left feeling exhilarated at having been a part of something so important.

It's amazing how many people turned out this time to vote that usually don't bother.

In my informal survey of everyone I came in contact with today...

I didn't get to yell at anyone who was apathetic enough not to vote.

Lucky for them, huh?

Sometimes it's hard not to feel like cattle in the morning

getting off the train & pushing your way up the escalators to street level.

I fell up on the way to work last week.

To add insult to injury...I laid there for a full 3 to 10 seconds.

The guy in back of me said, "are you alright?"

as he stepped over my crumbled body.

No help was offered...but at least he didn't step on me.

So far I'm 2 for 2 in my efforts to post a photo a day for November.

I baked a honey cake today.

Winnie the Pooh would have loved it.

Honey Cake

150 g butter
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup honey
1 2/3 cups flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary
2 eggs, beaten
Line and grease a 8.5 in/22 cm spring-form tin. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, sugar, honey, and 1 tbsp water, stirring one or twice until the sugar is dissolved and the butter melted. Leave to cool for 10-15 mins. Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.

Sift flour, baking powder, and cinnamon into a bowl. Add the eggs, and the butter mixture. Mix until smooth. Pour into cake tin and bake 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick/knife comes out clean. Leave in tin to cool.

Lemon Icing

2 cups confectioners sugar
100 g softened butter
1 tsp lemon zest
2 tbsp lemon juice
Sift sugar into a bowl. Add butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, and 1 tbsp water and beat until smooth.

Was today a long ass day...or what?

I'm going to see if I can post a photo a day in November.

My self imposed rules will be that it has to be

a photo taken by me on the day I'm posting it

every damn day in November...or else.

Anyone out there want to join me?

Here's my 1st one.

Taken at 12:08 PM in the grocery store.

This represents the huge zit I have & my actions in trying to kill it.

In all honesty, I think it's trying to take over the side of my neck.

Ever get one of those honkers that actually hurts it's so truly colossal?

I know it's from the Halloween chocolate my boss brought in to work & forced me to eat.

Yeah, it was worth it...me & the zit might form a friendship if I stop plotting to annihilate it.

October Snow

Looks like a Dr. Suess tree, doesn't it?

Can you believe it?

Got a foot of snow in October!

Lost trees & power.

Had no power from Tuesday at 10AM til a few hours ago.

2 days without power!

WTF?!

Can I tell you how glad I am to have power (& heat & hot water) again?

If it weren't for my parents living not too far away...

I'd be a frozen block of ice by now.

Did I miss Indian Summer or something?

(she looks ccold)

So...

For 2 days in a row

I went walking at lunch time.

& 2 days in a row

it was all about the boobies.

1st...in the vicinity of Canal Street

I spy a woman sunning herself in a park by the river

She's all bikini clad

(gotta love Indian Summer here.)

when...what do you know...she pops off her top

& yep...I see nipples

She's giving quite the thrill to the high school track club trotting by.

The next day I head south.

In Battery Park I see a woman breast feeding

while exposing the breast that wasn't part of the meal.

All these breasts & nipples out in the open

Got me thinking that I could use a message

Like this one.
